Where to start???
Let’s recap the week that was!
- March 31 – Completed my longest run EVER!! 20miles and longest run in my first marathon training cycle and it was ALL on trail! Happy early Birthday to me!! It was cold and a little rainy and slick toward the end, but I got it done! Let the celebrating begin!!
- April 1 – Happy Birthday to Moi!! This lady turned 35!! Had the day off and spent the day chilling out and picking up some goodies for the weekend and getting some yoga in. Legs feeling good after 20miles, yay! I think mini cupcakes from a delicious local Sugar Babies bakery and birthday flowers from the hubby helped for sure! Got some new Mizuno goodies, a pair of Wave Nirvana’s, new pair of Trail shoes and a cutest Mizuno skirt…double yay!! And for the grand finale…I got the date for my U.S. Citizenship Oath Ceremony :) Yes, bloggers. I’ve been keeping it quiet until I knew for sure. This is the final step in a five month application process and it was so incredibly fitting that I got my letter on the day of my birthday! Best Birthday gift ever!
- April 2 – Played athletic supporter the Fair Weather Runner and Kristen. They were in town for my birthday celebration which included Rock the Parkway half marathon and Brew to Brew the following day. While I did not run the half, of course I had to make sure I was playing supporter and photog for it. A beautiful day for a race!
Followed by a Quadruple reunion at our favorite Blanc Burger!
- April 3 – Let Brew to Brew begin!! It was an early morning and a very long day! The race starts at Boulevard Brewery in Kansas City, MO and ends at Free State Brewery in Lawrence, KS and runs through almost 44miles of mostly paved and a little dirt/gravel road. It is open to solo runners and teams and we had two teams running it. What a day it was!!! we had two teams running..Team Crown Car and Team Stroganoff!

Temps steadily rose to a record high for this day in April. All the way to 90F and winds gusted at 30-40mph all day!! I had assigned the legs for runners and hmmm…somehow assigned myself on of the toughest legs on the course. Leg 8 was dirt and gravel road (which I was fine with), pretty much all uphill straight into those strong wind gusts! It was not pretty, but I got it and chalked it up to some great hill and mental training!
Me with Sophia, our Mudbabe Leader who was handling the last aid station..which totally rocked by the way!! Please note the KC Trail Nerd/Mudbabe marker pretty much bent over due to the wind! Yeah..the wind never let up! Oh and this was the skirt I got on Friday! LOVE IT!! Big yay for my Mizuno skirt, Inspire top and those 2XU Compression shorts underneath helped. This was also a good test for a possible Free State outfit that would work in hot weather!
This was one of the best birthdays in recent memory for sure! Thanks to Beka, Kristen and Ed who added so much to it! I Love you guys! I certainly felt the love all weekend from all my wonderful friends!
A HUGE Loving hug to the best hubby EVER who made sure things went smoothly and I had a great time with friends! We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary 4 days after my birthday and I cannot wait to see what our future holds! More wonderful weekend I’m sure! I Love you more than I could ever say!!!
The month of April and my celebrations are not done yet. I’m now in taper mode for my first Marathon that is exactly 2 weeks from today!! I’m nervous and excited for this race and am planning to enjoy the whole experience of it all! And then 3 weeks from today, I should be a brand new U.S Citizen! Can you feel the excitement of it all!!!!! I can hardly wait!
Good Luck to All those running this week and of course Boston next week! Enjoy the experience and celebrate! You deserve it!!
Happy birthday and happy anniversary.
