Hello 2012!!

Wow…yes it is here! Welcome to a brand spanking new year and if the Mayan ‘Doomsday’ calendar happens to be right..welcome to our last year on this Earth!! Smile Welcome 2012!!

For the record, my plans extend well beyond 2012..so  I think we’ll all be laughing about the Doomsday come January 4, 2013! Open-mouthed smile

OK…enough about ‘doomsday prophesies’ let’s move on!

My 2011 Reflections post basically wrapped up what I loved about 2011! Yes, there were many miles, but I instead of looking at miles, I prefer to remember the moments and that is why there is no total miles tracked listed here. 2011 showed me one thing, that I am much stronger than I think I am, both physically and mentally. Its now time to look forward and outline what I plan on accomplishing in 2012!

Similar to last year, I have some personal ones that I’m holding close and not quite ready to share with the world quite yet. When the time is right you will know!

Onto my Running and Fitness and Heath related goals….

  • Goal #1 - Consistency with Cross Training to Keep Me Injury-Free!
As it was last year, my main goal is stay injury free. I did better last year that years before, but still dealt with a few aggravations. I think more commitment to cross training in the form of yoga and strength training will help me. I did ok last year, but wasn’t as consistent as I would like to be!
  • Goal #2 – Consistency with Healthy Eating!
Get better with my eating habits! I think I’m pretty decent when it comes to food intake and try to make sure I balance things out well. BUT my biggest weakness…sweets and good beer (my friend Ed’s home brews are the BOMB)!! Last week I bought two new cookbooks in an effort to eat better, add more vegetables in to our diet (other than what I juice daily) and to give the hubby and me a good start to better eating this year! Yes..and I’m going to be more conscious of my sweets and the delicious beer I love! I’m not saying I am giving these up, but will be more careful about how much!
  • Goal #3 – Complete Free State Ultra 40miler and Consistency with my Running!
This is my main goal race this spring. Free State last year was where I completed my
first Marathon and this year I’m stepping up the distance to the 40miler! Come April 21st, I plan on being ready to take that course on! In an effort to really train for this well and be really ready for this race I’m working with a coach for the first time ever! I realized I need some help  training for this distance and I want to do it smart and do it right and be a stronger runner than I was when I ran Dogwood and I know she will help me get there!
  • Goal #4 – Complete a 50miler or 100k and Dream BIG!
So this is my ‘make me sweat at night’ (as my coach likes to call it) or as I like to say ‘make me pee my pants a little’ goal! This is an outside goal and will likely depend on how a lot of other things fall into place! BUT I figured Dreaming BIG can’t hurt right?!! And Plus..if the Mayan Doomsday prophecy does come true..at least I’ll got out a 100k Ultra Finisher!!! LoL!

So Dream on and Dream Big folks! Let me know what your 2012 Dreams are…..
