While most runners I know break this or get close to this number in one week during their peak training its taken me a while to get to this number even in one month! BUT that’s ok!! Its here now!
During my 17mi long run with Coach yesterday I broke 100miles in month for the first time since I started running. Woohoo
!!! It was a run with a mix of everything including a few falls, BUT damn it felt good to hit that milestone!
Training so far towards the Free State 40 has been progressing well! I’ve consistently and slowly increased my mileage each week. Consistent running was a goal that I had for myself this year and so far so good!! I’ve also kept up with my cross training in the form or yoga and strength training and still managed to take one whole day completely off! In February I started hill training at this killer hill by the trail I run regularly called Ogg!! We lovingly call it Ogg Mistress! Ogg Mistress is tough and hard, but her results are amazing! Hills are a very weak point for me and Coach has me working on these and I can tell I’m getting a little better! Let’s just say the day I can actually run up Ogg…it’ll be something to celebrate! Thank goodness for the Tuesday evening group that do these repeats as on my own…they’d be just horrendous! I’ve also been practicing the fine art of power walking during as part of Ultra training! No way will be I able to run the full 40miles and there will be walk breaks. The key here is power walking…which is definitely something to practice, especially power walking when my legs are tired out!
How have I felt during my training so far? Some days are great, some good and some tough…but as my experienced Ultra running partners reminded me yesterday when it comes to ultra distances it is important to remember that the good, the bad and the ugly can all happen in one run and you just have to be flexible, adjust and keep moving! Remember this too shall pass ![]()
While its not much to most, for me this milestone is pretty big and something to celebrate! This shows me that I have come a long way since I first started running and even a year ago…BUT its also a reminder that I have a lot of hard work and lots of miles ahead of me to get where I know I WANT to be!!! So I keep on running and keep on learning one milestone at a time!!!
Damn!! You are doing awesome work Indi!!! I can't wait to see you out there :)
ReplyDeleteI can't say enough about your amazing attitude and hard work ethic. You will succeed beyond your wildest dreams based just on those 2 things... they are sadly lacking in many people. You ROCK!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing such a kick ass job! I am so proud of you and can't wait to share the race day with you.
ReplyDeleteCongrats with the milestone, awesome! You're doing very well and will be in good shape for the 40.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 100 miles. I'm surprised you haven't hit that mark before now. Keep it up, I found simply by adding miles, I got faster at all distances.
ReplyDeleteYou are working hard and well. The cross training is very important. Congrats on the 100 miles and now go to break the next barrier!
